Sedation Dentistry in Beaverton

woman covering mouth in fear in exam chair | sedation dentistry beavertonDo you experience dental anxiety? Whether you get the jitters when thinking about a dental visit or experience full-on panic, Neish Dentistry can help you. Along with a caring and empathetic team to support you, we offer oral conscious sedation to help you relax and get the crucial care you need.

What Is Oral Conscious Sedation?

Oral sedation is a relaxing medication in pill form taken about an hour before your appointment. This timing gives the medication time to work, so you'll feel relaxed and at ease when you arrive at our Beaverton dental office. Depending on your needs, Dr. Neish may also recommend a second dose once you arrive.

It's “conscious” because you remain fully awake and able to communicate with our team. However, you will remain very calm and relaxed throughout your appointment. Because the medication stays in your system for several hours, we require a designated driver to safely transport you to and from your appointment.

How Dental Anxiety in Beaverton Impacts Overall Health

Neglecting your oral health will lead to dental issues and impact your overall health and well-being.

Here's how.

If chewing hurts because of decayed, broken, or missing teeth, you may be unable to eat nutritious foods, like the fresh fruits and vegetables your body needs. It may also affect your digestion if you can’t break down foods effectively when you chew.

Untreated gum disease increases your risk for tooth loss but also impacts your overall health and well-being. Research shows a link between periodontal disease and numerous systemic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, dementia, and pregnancy complications.

We Can Help You Overcome Dental Anxiety

Oral conscious sedation addresses symptoms of anxiety, but what about the root causes? While there are numerous reasons for dental anxiety, we have just as many ways to help you manage or overcome them with communication, empathy, and understanding.

Fear of Pain

We use potent local anesthetics to ensure a pain-free appointment. Our supportive team will go above and beyond to ensure you're comfortable and cared for.

Previous Traumatic Experience

We encourage you to discuss your experience. Bringing your fears into the open can minimize their impact and help your dentist understand your concerns.

Fear of Injections

Dr. Neish is highly trained and experienced in giving comfortable injections and making the process as gentle as possible.

Fear of Loss of Control

You are always in control. Feeling overwhelmed? Give us a signal, and we’ll stop immediately and take a break.

Embarrassment over Dental Health

We understand few people have perfect oral health. We promise we're here to help you, not to judge.

Fear of the Unknown

We ensure you’re always in the know. Dr. Neish will explain what he’s about to do and why, with as much or as little detail as you’re comfortable with.

Tooth Sensitivity

Let us know about your sensitivity from the start so we can accommodate your needs.

They make what can be stressful, the best experience possible.
