Reasons We Recommend Dental Crowns
Dental Crowns are also called caps or tooth caps because they completely cover and conceal a tooth. They are commonly made of durable ceramic or zirconia. Situations where Dr. Neish might recommend a dental crown include:
- Covering a tooth with a cavity that’s too large for a filling alone
- Supporting a broken, cracked, or worn tooth
- Strengthening and protecting a root-canaled tooth
- Restoring function and appearance of a dental implant
- Supporting dental bridgework
- Improving a tooth’s appearance
Benefits of CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Beaverton
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, meaning we fabricate the crown or bridge in-house while you wait. No outside lab is needed, and you leave our office that day with your new crown securely in place.
Our patients appreciate the convenience of same-day crowns for several reasons.
- No multiple appointments.
- No temporary restoration to deal with.
- No two-week wait while an outside lab creates the crown.
How CEREC Same-Visit Crowns and Bridges in Work
If a crown is right for you, we start by numbing the tooth and removing a layer of tooth enamel to ensure a proper fit for the new restoration. Next, we take highly accurate digital impressions that eliminate the need for messy, uncomfortable paste.
Our sophisticated 3-D intraoral scanner captures a virtual image of your mouth that Dr. Neish uses to design your new crown or bridge in the software. A milling unit in our office receives the information and mills your custom crown while you wait.
We use durable ceramic or zirconia for your same-day restoration, so you can be confident it will blend seamlessly with your smile. When the crown or bridge is ready, we check and adjust it for fit, then cement it securely on your tooth.
