How Does Clear Aligner Therapy Work?
The idea behind clear aligner therapy is simple: Instead of metal brackets and wires affixed to teeth, a series of clear, comfortable plastic aligners gently move teeth into the ideal position. There are two main steps involved in straightening teeth with clear aligners in Beaverton.
Step One: Orthodontic Evaluation
The first step is an evaluation with Dr. Neish to determine if you're a good clear aligner candidate. He will take digital x-rays and comfortable digital scans of your teeth to gauge the extent of your orthodontic needs.
If he finds you are a good candidate, he will use the 3-D scans with specialized software to virtually plan the step-by-step movements of your teeth during treatment. We send your case to a ClearCorrect lab, which customizes a series of clear aligners according to our specifications. When they're ready, you'll return to Neish Dentistry so we can deliver your first aligners and provide instructions for using them.
Step Two: Wearing Your Aligners
The longer you wear your aligners daily, the faster you'll see results. Aim to wear each set 22 hours a day for one to two weeks, or as instructed, then switch to the next set in the series. During ClearCorrect treatment, you will visit our Beaverton, OR, dental office every four to six weeks for a progress check and to receive your next sets of aligners. You have completed treatment when you've worn all your aligners and you and Dr. Neish agree you have achieved the desired results. Treatment times vary by patient but average 6–12 months.
What Are the Benefits of ClearCorrect in Beaverton?
Our patients appreciate clear aligners because they are discreet, comfortable, and don't interfere with their lifestyle. You can remove them for meals and oral hygiene, so there are no food restrictions, and brushing and flossing are easier without navigating brackets and wires.
Another benefit is seeing and feeling the progress when switching to a new set. They'll feel a little tighter than the last, and that's a good thing—it means your teeth are moving, and soon you'll have the beautiful straight smile you've always wanted.
